Silence Your Inner Critic

As human beings, we all have our own values, beliefs and attitudes that we have learnt throughout the course of our lives. Our family, friends and the experiences we have had all contribute to our sense of who we are and how we view the world.  Some of these beliefs and attitudes are positive and empowering whereas others are negative and hold us back in life. It is time to rewire your brain, rewire your thinking, change your beliefs.  Change your habits, change your behaviours.

From the day we are born, our mind’s job is to keep us alive.  It does this by keeping us away from pain (physical and emotional) and moving us towards pleasure.  Humans are innately averse to taking risks.  Your brain is designed to prevent you from harm whether it is physical or emotional, and has a self-regulatory system that monitors every thought you have according to this pain-pleasure system.  Based on your system of beliefs, your brain will then decide whether or not to take action, and the kind of action you will take.  For your brain, a belief is merely a repetitive and enduring neural pathway, which determines how you behave.

For most of us, our attitudes and beliefs have been shaped and formed in childhood.  And we carry these early learned meanings about the world into adulthood.  But these are outdated, childlike and not relevant anymore.  You need to update your thinking just like you update your mobile, your computer and your iPad.

Unless you update your thinking, you will not achieve your goals and your dreams.

You need to silence that negative inner voice.  You need to still that inner child that is full of fear and anxiety.  You need to let go of that inner voice that says you are not good enough or will never succeed.
