Today is International Women’s Day.  A day on which we celebrate women around the world, and their contribution that they make to securing women’s rights and helping to shape more equitable, tolerant societies. But equally important, it is also a day in which we are called to take a moment to reflect and consider those women’s voices who continue to go unheard, whose rights are denied and whose very freedom is questionable.

In between these two extremes, are the women – the you and me reading this blog – who may not be CEO’s of global companies, or struggling with extreme poverty – the you and me who have our daily challenges and struggles. And although you might not have been interviewed on TV, or had a magazine article written on your struggles, it doesn’t mean that your challenges are any less important or confronting.

You are unique, you have unique strength and ability

Probably, there is someone or plenty of someone’s out there that look at you in awe, that admire your tenacity, your strength of character and resiliency, and who wish that they could aspire to being just half the person you are.  So instead of beating yourself up, instead of judging yourself for your flaws and mistakes, take a moment to breathe in your brilliance.

You are unique, you have unique strength and ability and whatever you do, do your best. You are powerful just the way you are. Take your personal power into your own hands, and build the world you want step by step.
