According to Deepak Chopra, “all great changes are preceded by chaos”.

As we move closer towards the holiday season and the end of the year, I wonder if it is possible to even contemplate healthy change in the midst of the chaos and overwhelm that is all too present at the moment?

Navigating the daily grindstone in a time where life is a constant non-stop treadmill can be draining, exhausting and immensely stressful – possibly at times over-bearing and hard to cope with.

At a time like this, when our fuel reserves are running low, how can we stay grounded and fill up? How can we allow the chaos to be present and yet still remain present, centred and embodied?

So start cultivating some kindness and compassion to yourself for starters.

It’s in these times that we abandon the very strategies that we need to stay grounded, the ones that will fill us up and help us to embody. So start cultivating some kindness and compassion to yourself for starters. Take the pressure off for perfection and servitude of everyone.

Remember, unless you fuel yourself up, you are not going to be able to do anything for anyone.

Nourishment in every sense is vital. Eating simple, healthy meals and snacks, and drinking lots of water is a great way to boost energy but is also part of that self care programme.

Not all grounding has to cost money!!

Nourishment can also take the form of gentle exercise, meditation, and even a massage. Taking some quiet time, away from the busyness is a great de-stresser. A simple cuddle with your pet or loved one does wonders too. Not all grounding has to cost money!!

Always remember, no matter how ungrounded you feel, no matter how chaotic your environment might seem, you can always come home to your breath. Wherever you are, your breath goes with you. Long slow deep breaths, with the out breath longer than the in breath, will help you to feel calm and relaxed.
