So much of what we do in life has a rule attached to it that is linked to a faulty belief.  A belief that we usually took on early in our childhood.

Think about it, do you believe all thin girls are happy? If you weighed a certain amount then you would be happy? If you were x amount of kilograms then your partner would love you? I will get a promotion if I wear the kind of clothes that thin girls wear. The list goes on and on.

To what extent are you putting your life on hold because of a faulty belief?

Have you ever stopped to consider the faults in these beliefs? Or where they came from? How did you learn them?  And how much these erroneous thoughts are actually impeding you from being the best possible version of yourself?   To what extent are you putting your life on hold because of a faulty belief?

Thoughts are transient.  They come and go, they change constantly, and not all of them are real or true.  And the same with beliefs.  Beliefs are yours to change.  No belief is set in stone, and unchangeable.  The media, our culture, industry is all vested in making us believe that if we look a certain way, or weigh a certain number then yes, life will be perfect.  You will be happy, you will have that ideal body and that ideal life.

Let’s be honest, the diet industry has a vested interest in painting that picture – that is how it makes its money.  The diet drinks are not going to have pictures of unhappy people are they?

If it was so simple to just eat less, exercise more and drop the kg’s forever then no one would be overweight, everyone would have the ideal body and society would all be happy.

Well if that was true, then why are some people who have the ideal body, who are not overweight, still not happy, or still single or not getting that promotion?

Unless you change your inside, you are not going to be able to sustain the changes on the outside.

The answer is simple.  It’s not just about changing the exterior.  It is about changing your beliefs, the very root of where all your habits and behaviours stem from.  Unless you change your inside, you are not going to be able to sustain the changes on the outside.  You will continuously be chasing a moving goal post.

When you understand where you took on certain beliefs, you can reframe those outdated beliefs into more useful, supportive beliefs that will work for you.  Understanding gives insight and the ability to take steps towards change.
