Assertiveness training groups

Do you often find that others pressurize you into thinking their way? Is it sometimes difficult for you to express your feelings openly and honestly? Do you sometimes lose control and become angry at others who don't warrant it? Do you find that other people coerce you to think or act their way? Are you able to make/refuse requests?

Answering "yes" to either one or more of these questions is often an indication that you may lack assertiveness. Assertiveness does not mean being aggressive but rather it is being able to let others know what you want in a clear manner, respecting your own rights and feelings, as well as those of others.

My practical course has been specifically designed to help you develop the essential skills of assertiveness. It is a training programme in cognitive-behavioural therapy that teaches you to identify and express your feelings and needs in an appropriate way. You will learn important interpersonal communication skills so that you can protect yourself from exploitation, attack and hostility.

Dear Janine,

Thank you does not seem appropriate when expressing gratitude to people who enhance your way of life. I can't begin to explain to you the positive effect your course has made to my daily life. I am getting better and better every day at being assertive and others around me who are treating me with a higher level of respect I have never felt before.

By increasing my awareness I feel more deserving and now I find it easier to ask for what I want.

Establishing effective boundaries in everyday interaction with people in my life, I feel more in control and capable of protecting my self esteem and rights as a human being.

You are such a beautiful human being and I thank you whole heartedly for your contribution to my on-going treatment.

I would not hesitate in recommending your courses to others and indeed I already have.

Regards,

Paul.

Stressed out Students Groups

We are all led to believe that school is a time when all you need to do is study, get good grades and learn how to be a moral upstanding citizen. Unfortunately, for some of you the pressures are more than you can handle and with the arrival of the HSC and other exams you may be experiencing varying levels of anxiety and stress - with your family very often suffering along with you. As a result, areas such as your school life, ability to focus and study for exams, exam performance, family life, your friendships as well as your health, may all be affected to varying degrees.

Long before things get to this point, you can reach out and get help. Anxiety can be treated successfully - without medication, and with long term benefits. If you are a stressed out student, or even a student who is managing your anxiety at the moment, you can take positive steps towards making your school year manageable. If you are feeling panicky, nervous, stressed or insecure; if you have noticed changes in your mood, changes in your eating patterns or having sleep difficulties TAKE ACTION NOW!!!

So, you may be asking, what can I do? Who can help? Well, look no further...

I understand what you and your family may be going through and I have developed a 6 week programme that teaches you how to relax and manage your stress in order to achieve positive results. At each session, you will learn a different, easy to do relaxation technique that focuses on relaxing your mind and your body, so as to bring about calmness and a decrease in anxiety. Such techniques include progressive muscle relaxations, guided visualisations, mindfulness and meditation. I will also teach you self hypnosis. You will receive an audio cd, based on the technique learnt at the session that you can use at home to reinforce what you have learnt so that those calm relaxed feelings can be maintained between sessions and in the long term.

Janine helped me out tremendously when I was feeling really down. When no one could understand what I was feeling her hypnosis sessions really helped control my anxiety, stress and confidence levels to the point that when I began year 12 I no longer became the nervous wreck I once was but rather a confident me, a me who could achieve the marks he has always dreamed of.

Janine's been such a great help, all my friends have been amazed by my marks and my quiet confidence in myself and my work. I went through year 12 feeling like I had the edge again, and feel like such a great burden has been lifted off my shoulders.
